Business Hours

Most government offices are open between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm and closed on weekends. Banks are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays and from 09:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekends. Major department stores are usually open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. Most private businesses open anywhere from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.


Tipping is not customary. In most restaurants in China, no service charge is required. A 15–18%, 10–15% and 10% service charge may be added to your bill at five–star, four–star and three–star hotels, respectively.
